Preventive Dentistry

Why Is Preventive Care Important?

Preventive care is the most important part of dentistry for children. With great at-home brushing habits, frequent checkups, and a healthy diet, kids can avoid common problems like cavities and gum disease completely. Not only does this help them keep their smile healthy as they grow into adulthood, but proper preventive care saves you time, money, and headaches, too!

Empowering Kids To Care For Their Teeth

At Treehouse Children's Dentistry, our doctors want kids to be able to take control of their own oral health. Our mission is to empower kids, explain the importance of dental care, and help them take steps to keep their teeth bright, shiny, and healthy as they grow. Here are just a few ways we do that!

Brushing Tips

Our dentists are always happy to answer any questions you or your children have about brushing. Brushing at home is your child’s first line of defense against cavities and other oral health issues, and we’re here to help them get the most out of their routine.

Personalized Product Recommendations

From floss picks to water flossers and anti-sensitivity toothpaste, we can recommend a wide range of products that will help your child keep their smile healthy, no matter how old they are or what unique challenges face their oral health. You can trust our expert dentists and team to steer you and your little ones in the right direction.

Patient, Caring, Child-Focused Dentistry

Unlike a general dental office, our team only treats kids. That means your child will have the best possible experience with our friendly, child-focused team. Our goal is to make dentistry fun, positive, and enjoyable for kids of all ages. Not only does this make your little one’s appointment easier, but it also helps them learn more about how to take care of their smile, and they’ll also develop a better attitude toward dental care as they grow.

Conservative Care

We practice conservative dentistry at Treehouse Children's Dentistry. This means that as your child grows, you can trust our dentists to only recommend the care that’s truly necessary to keep their mouth healthy.

What To Expect From Your Child’s Appointment

At their first appointment, one of our dental hygienists will clean your child’s teeth gently to remove plaque, tartar, and other debris. We may also recommend x-rays for older kids. Then, your child’s dentist will enter the room. They’ll perform an oral exam, review your child’s x-rays, if applicable, and discuss their oral health with you. If they notice any issues, you’ll schedule a follow-up for treatment. Otherwise, you and your child will simply come back in six months for another quick checkup!

If your child is prone to cavities, their dentist may apply a layer of fluoride. This not only kills the bacteria that cause decay but also seals and remineralizes the tooth for added strength.

Dental Sealants

Dental sealants, often applied along the teeth with the deepest grooves, create an impenetrable seal over your child's tooth, which stops bacteria from causing cavities.
